Once again we had to rise early, this time to spot some condors!
Elien was very enthousiastic, she couldn't wait to capture them on film. In this respect you could compare her with a pokémon trainer. So off we went, along a dirt road, with our driver, guide and our German co-travelers for the colca canyon trip. At condor's cross it was already packed with other eager "pokémon trainers", so we had to elbow our way in, to find the right spot. Elien stood firm, ready for her first encounter with the condors. "Look down there!" She yelled, identifying our first condor. Sadly, it fleed from the camera, and Elien failed to "catch" it. So we waited for the next one to get closer, we could already see several condors gliding in the distance. As the temperature rose, the condors soared higher and flew closer, the perfect opportunity for Elien to take some shots. Finally she took enough pictures, quite satiesfied we enjoyed a guided walk along the canyon. Here our guide gave once again some interessting info about the plants, birds, bees and other animals we encounterd. We also past some beautiful vieuwpoints were we could see the deepest canyon in all its glory. At one of the viewpoints the condors came realy close and Elien took the opportunity with both hands. Now very satisfied we could return to our hotel, where we enjoyed the local hot springs.
