Day 1: dónde está la...

Today we had an early start, at 4 a.m. Elien was wide awake and as a consequence Joachim too. This because we had napped earlier on the plane. As a result, we commenced our exploration of the Miaflores area in Lima quite early. We first we had a rather sober breakfast at our hotel.

After breakfast we went on to search for a market. The search didn't go well. Elien had to ask some directions in her best Spanish, which worked quite good! The market was small but nice, we saw some weird fruits and vegetables and also something that looked like a pumkin. We were there quite early so it wasn't busy at all. So, We explored and enjoyed some of the new smells and colours, that Peru has to offer.

Next we needed to recharge our batteries with some coffee, joachim's fuel. Now ready to strech our legs once more, we went to the indian market also called the inca market, where you can find an endless supply of souvenirs and typical peruvian commemeratives. Here we did some window shopping as we will return later this trip to Lima, so no need to carry the dead weight of souvenirs around, we did buy a hat however, to withstand the icy temperatures we will face in la Paz and Uyuni (-15°C brrr).

Finally our time in Lima came to an end, hasta la vista we said, before boarding the bus to Ica.

Eerste peruviaans pintje voor Joachim!
