Day 19: squeaky flight

After yet again a short night it was time to catch our flight to Cusco!

The travel agency recommended to be at the airport 2 hours in advance! But that proved to be unnecessary as we were there practically alone. At least our flight was on time. We boarded a super small plane, 2 chairs on each side of the plane and only 20 rows, it seemed more like a bus with wings. The little plane would bring us to la Paz and there we caught another flight to Cusco. We spent our last Bolivianos in the airport on breakfast and said goodbye to Bolivia.

We flew above the sacred valley and landed safe and sound in Peru. We took a taxi to our hotel but as it was situated in the heart of the historical center it was not possible to drop us of at the doorstep. 'No problemos' we said. But after stepping out of the taxi we walked the wrong direction luckily the people in Cusco are friendly and a man named Luis showed us the way.

We dropped our luggage off and went to have lunch. Because you cannot explore on an empty stomac, we took Charlie's advice and went to Papacho's, as Joachim was in desperate need for a burger. Elien took a sandwich but also that one proved to be delicious!
With a very full stomac we started our exploration of the city.
We mainly explored plaza de Armas, the beautiful cathedral and churches around it and the tiny cozy shopping streets where baby alpaca is omnipresent.

In the evening we booked a trip to the sacred valley to explore the ancient Inca ruins when we come back from Machu Pichu.
Exhausted from an other busy exploring day we fell  asleep.
